GADAG: An official of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Development Corporation has been trapped by the Lokayukta while receiving money for sanctioning a loan on Thursday. The Lokayukta police have given the name of the official as Kalakappa R. Walikar, who was working as the Loan Recovery and Development Officer in the corporation in Gadag. He was trapped while receiving Rs. 2,000 from Nagaraj Hebballi, a beneficiary of a loan scheme who had been sanctioned Rs. 1.50 lakh for taking up self-employment. According to Lokayukta police, Mr. Nagaraj had approached the corporation for setting up a footwear shop and was sanctioned the loan. Although the official had issued a cheque of Rs. 1.20 lakh a few days ago, he had reportedly demanded Rs. 30,000 for releasing the remaining amount. Consequently, Mr. Nagaraj complained to the Lokayukta and went to pay a part of the amount on Thursday when the Lokayukta police raided the office. The raid was carried by Lokayukta inspector A.B. Harapanahalli and staff under the guidance of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Kashinath Talageri and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashok Sadalagi.
