GADAG: The Deputy Commissioner of Gadag, Mohammed Mohsin, has banned the entry of manganese ore-laden trucks into Gadag-Betageri during daytime. The decision comes in the wake of several complaints about the hardship the people of Gadag-Betageri and surrounding areas had to face because of ore-laden trucks. In a release here, the Deputy Commissioner has said that the ore-laden trucks will not be allowed to ply on roads such as Gadag-Koppal, Gadag-Hubli, Gadag-Bagalkot, Gadag-Gajendragad, Hubli-Nargund-Bijapur and connecting roads from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The ban order, issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, also prohibits entry of overloaded trucks on these roads. He said that areas had been earmarked for parking the trucks during daytime and strict action would be taken against those violating the ban. Mr. Mohsin also directed the Commissioner of the City Municipal Council and the Superintendent of Police to install signboards giving information on the ban.
