PMC demands cancellation of entrance tests

Special Correspondent

“Such a cancellation helped poor students in

Tamil Nadu”

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) has urged the government to take immediate steps to cancel entrance tests for professional courses.

In a statement here, PMC MLA N. Anandu said on Wednesday that though the demand was raised by him in the Assembly during the last session and stressed by educationists and representatives of various political parties, the government did not concede it on the ground that it was too late to concede the proposal.

Cancellation of entrance tests in Tamil Nadu had resulted in an increase in the entry of students with poor and rural background into higher education by 12 per cent, he said.

Mr. Anandu urged the Department of Education to initiate measures well in advance to avoid confusion among the public.
