HYDERABAD: Describing the Centre’s announcement of bonus of Rs. 50 per quintal of paddy over the minimum support price as “pittance”, Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said it symbolised the discrimination towards the State.
He said the bonus would not help the paddy growers as the benefit would not be passed on to them. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy has miserably failed and his word did not count with the Centre. “That is why we had been insisting on taking it up as an all-party issue. We will then show how to fight it out,” he said while emphasising the point that the State’s interests suffered whenever Congress ruled in the State and the Centre.
