Expert lists mantras for excellence

Special Correspondent

GUDLAVALLERU (Krishna dist): By acquiring a deep knowledge of difference aspects of the self and by developing love for different subjects, one can achieve personal and academic excellence, according to management consultant M.C. Das.

Delivering a talk on ‘Personal and Academic Excellence’ organised by The Hindu Business Line Club in association with the Department of Business Administration of Gudlavalleru College of Engineering here on Friday, Mr. Das listed nine mantras for achieving excellence.

Acquiring knowledge of one’s body; one’s role in society; family; and institution; and one’s feelings and behaviour were essential to develop personal excellence.

Accepting a person in all totality; developing good relations; appreciating others into life; accepting one’s mistakes; and developing a positive attitude that leads to happiness were the remaining four mantras for achieving personal excellence.

Being proud of studying a subject, gaining knowledge in it, enjoying and loving it, and being enthusiastic about studies in general would go a long way in achieving academic excellence, Mr. Das explained.

Advice to students

Exhorting students to put their bodies and minds to the best use, Mr. Das explained to them wonders of the human body.

He said that the human body was one of the largest ‘organisations’ with over 60 lakh crore employees (the number of cells in the body).

“Each cell is independent with a date of birth, a date of death and very specific duty,” he observed.

Each cell was a city with several energy production centres and protein-manufacturing units, he explained. Business Administration Department head B.E.V.V.N. Murthy said, 998 colleges were producing 90,000 students of business administration.

Efforts were on to make the business graduates of the college some of the best in the State.

Regional General Manager of The Hindu K. Chandrasekaran welcomed the gathering and made a presentation on The Hindu Business Line.
