YSR promises centre for excellency status

VIZIANAGARAM: MP Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi said on Friday that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had agreed in principle to recognise the ITI (Girls) here as a centre for excellency from next academic year and also assured her that new trades would be introduced in the institute.

She said in a statement here that the Chief Minister had agreed to enhance the grant from Rs. 5 crores to Rs. 25 crores for construction of JNTU Engineering College buildings in the town.

Ms. Jhansi Lakshmi said Minister for Cultural Affairs A. Ram Narayana Reddy had promised to introduce Bharata Natyam in the M.R. Government Music and Dance College from next academic year. She sanctioned Rs.10 lakhs from her MPLADs for development of the college.
