Coop bank staff strike work

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: Employees of 17 Cooperative Central Banks (CCB) in the State went on strike on Friday, urging the government to fulfil their 10-point list of demands.

They also decided to boycott the cooperative week celebrations now under way. The Berhampur Cooperative Central Bank Employees union (BCCBEU) also went on strike and staged a dharna in front of the bank in the city. They shouted slogans against the government for neglecting the cooperative banking sector, which was a major catalyst for agricultural development in the State.

Disparity

Secretary of the BCCBEU Basudev Choudhury alleged that the disparity continued in the pay-scale of employees of different CCBs in the State as they were not provided equal DA.

The employees want 50 per cent of the DA merged to their basic pay, which had already been done by three CCBs of the State. They want the profit-making CCBs to provide bonus and other benefits to the employees.
