BHUBANESWAR: After the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (SIDR) moved over to Bangladesh, the cyclone warning was withdrawn by the Meteorological Department as well as the Orissa Government on Friday. Thousands of shoreline villagers who were evacuated to safer places following alert issued by district administration as per the advise of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) started returning to their homes. The SIDR created panic. Order of evacuation of people was given in Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapaara, Bhadrak and Balasore districts. On Friday, the Bhubaneswar met office said the system remained practically stationary and lay centred over Bangladesh and adjoining Tripura at about 70 km southwest of Agartala. It was likely to move in a North-North-Easterly direction and weaken further, the met office said. Meanwhile, a local cautionary signal number three (LC-III) had been lowered at all ports in Orissa.
