Mahendragiri: Naveen takes it up with Andhra

Bhubaneswar: Strongly protesting the inclusion of the historic Mahendragiri hills in the website of Andhra Pradesh Government’s Tourism Department, the Orissa Government on Friday asked the neighbouring State to take immediate steps to correct the error.

In a letter to his counterpart in Andhra Pradesh, Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said Mahendragiri was very much in the State’s Gajapati district. “The Orissa Government has already initiated several eco-tourism projects in Mahendragiri hills for attracting tourists,” Mr. Patnaik said. Mr. Patnaik said the issue had already sparked resentment among the people of Orissa. – PTI
