Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: The All-India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) and All-India Mahila Samskruthika Sangham (AIMSS) took out a procession of students here on Friday demanding immediate discontinuation of sex educationin high schools now on experimental basis.

Students from different schools and colleges participated in the procession taken out from KSR Junior College . Speaking at the commencement of the procession, G. Lalitha, State president of AIMSS, said introduction of sex education in schools would have adverse impact on society at a time when moral and cultural values were fast declining. Parents were highly concerned about the polluted social atmosphere, where atrocities on girls and women, including harassment and killing in the name of love, were on the rise. The situation would deteriorate if the topic was taught to adolescent students, she feared.

D. Raghavendra, district president of AIDSO, said the governments were planning to introduce sex education to get funds from World Bank, UNICEF and UNESCO.He appealed to teachers and students to boycott the experimental classes.
