ALL SET: A glimpse of what’s going to be on at the show.

BANGALORE: Theatre buffs in Bangalore can look forward to Admit One 2007, the three-day annual theatre festival of the National Law School of India University, which will take place from Monday, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Alliance Francaise.

The Hindu is the media partner for the festival as well as for events such as the NLS Parliamentary Debate and the rock show, Strawberry Fields.

This year’s edition of Admit One celebrates diverse cultural expressions and manifestations and features 21 plays, including teams from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, MCC Chennai and St. Stephens, Delhi.

The festival will be inaugurated by dancer Mallika Sarabhai. The inaugural play will be Colour Wheel Productions’ “Why Not Why?”, by a group of children who have not let hearing disabilities come in the way of their self expression.

It is inspired by Mahasweta Devi’s “Why, Why Girl” and narrates the story of a little girl and her endless quest for answers.

The performance is a culmination of a three-month long workshop conducted by Masrah, a local theatre group The NLS Parliamentary Debate and the rock show Strawberry Fields will act as a lever to attract talent. More than 20 teams have registered, and the competition is sure to be stiff especially as the prize money on offer is Rs. 50,000 for the winning teams. On the judges panel will be Bimal Desai and Vivek Madan, among others.
