VIJAYAWADA: The CPI (M) city unit has accused the Congress leaders in the city of making the poor suffer in the crossfire between them for political one-upmanship. CPI (M) city secretary R. Raghu said at a press conference on Friday that the ongress in the city was in a total disarray with internal differences among its leaders coming to the fore. He said that the Congress leaders who were now trying to create an impression that they would be able to resolve the problems of the poor in a jiffy had once criticised the CPI (M) bitterly for launching a struggle for distribution of house sites, regularisation of lands and issue of pattas for the poor. Mr. Raghu said the poor had been residing for very long in several vacant lands owned by the departments like irrigation, roads & buildings, revenue, municipal corporation and railways, besides such lands as in Harinadhapuram in 23rd division where there were no claimants. The government should also regularise the lands occupied by the SCs/STs at Priyadarshini Colony in 28th division and Ekalavya Nagar in 29th division.
