TIRUVANNAMALAI: Minister for Tourism N. Suresh Rajan inaugurated two battery cars at the Sathanur dam in Tiruvannamalai district on Wednesday. The new facility is part of Rs.1.17-crore tourism infrastructure development works executed under the tourism development scheme.
Other facilities that were inaugurated included a youth hostel constructed at a cost of Rs.20 lakh, children’s parks, lawn, artificial fountains, swimming pool and five-pedal boats. Mr. Rajan and Food Minister E.V. Velu went round the dam in one of the cars.
Later, Mr. Rajan inaugurated a pilgrims’ rest house constructed at a cost of Rs.31 lakh in the ‘girivalam’ path on Chengam Road.
He said several schemes were being implemented by the Tourism Department to convert Tiruvannamalai into a major tourist centre.
