VELLORE: The Tamil Nadu Government is taking all legal steps to solve problems arising out of Kerala’s intransigence in allowing Tamil Nadu to raise the height of the Mullaiperiyar dam and the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to lay the foundation for a checkdam across the Palar, according to Public Works Department Minister Durai Murugan.
Speaking at the 54th All India Cooperative Week celebrations here on Friday, he was replying to Vellore MLA C. Gnanasekharan’s request that the government obtain a stay in the Supreme Court on the Andhra Pradesh Government’s move.
The Minister said that while the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government filed a public interest litigation petition in the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the decision, it was the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government that took steps not only to get the PIL numbered but also facilitated the commencement of hearing.
