AG TN ‘A’ triumphs

CHENNAI: AG Tamil Nadu ‘A’ team, comprising R. Suresh Kumar and S. Manivannan, clinched the title with seven points in the IA and AD South Zone chess tournament which concluded here on Friday.

AG Kerala, represented by A.K. Jagadeesan and E. Prabhakaran, garnered 6.5 points for the second place.

In the individual section, R. Suresh Kumar and A.K. Jagadeesan finished with 4.5 points each. However, the draw of lots favoured Jagadeesan and he was declared the winner.

The results: Individual: N. Jayaseelan (AG TN ‘B’) 3 lost to R. Sureshkumar (AG TN ‘A’) 4.5; A.K. Jagadeesan (AG Ker) 4.5 bt S. Manivannan (AG TN ‘A’) 2.5; V. Nagesh Kumar (SCR) 2 lost to K.N. Namboodiri (AG Kar) 3.5; S. Rambabu (AG AP) 3 bt S. Gnanaskandan (AG TN ‘B’) 2; E. Prabhakaran (AG Ker) 2 bt Venkata Naidu (SCR) 2.
