NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old man has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police for alleged involvement in several cases of murder, robbery and attempt to murder and under Arms Act.
Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap near the Delhi Institute of Advanced Studies in Sector 24 of Rohini on Friday evening and arrested Jaswant Singh when he came to meet one of his accomplices. One country-made pistol and one live cartridge were allegedly seized from him.
During interrogation, Jaswant, a resident of Paharganj, purportedly told the police that he joined a gang of pick-pockets at the age of 18 but soon fell out with the gang leader Raju over his share in the booty. In February, he allegedly murdered Umed, a member of the Raju gang.
