NEW DELHI: Two young men allegedly doused a 24-year-old woman with kerosene at R.K.Puram here on Friday threatening to eliminate her if she did not withdraw complaints of eve-teasing against one Deepak. The incident took place around 10-30 a.m. when the accused barged into Neha Gupta’s Moti Bagh house from the backdoor, tied her up and poured a bottle of kerosene over her. The two then allegedly beat her up and threatened her with dire consequences if she did not withdraw the complaints against Deepak. Neha’s father Ashok Gupta, a Customs officer, and brother Aman Gupta were away at the time. The culprits escaped from the backdoor when Aman, who had gone to drop his father at his office, returned home and rang the doorbell. The police have registered a case and a hunt has been launched for the culprits. Deepak, son of a Ghaziabad-based businessman, is said to be the brother of Neha’s friend Poonam Sharma. Neha, who did her Masters’ in Computer Application from Amity University, came into contact with Poonam at college and the two become good friends. A few months later Neha went to Poonam’s house in Ghaziabad to attend a birthday party and met Deepak. Later, Deepak is said to have proposed to Neha, but she turned down his proposal. He then allegedly made threatening calls to her asking her to accept the proposal. When he did not mend his ways, the girl’s family filed a complaint against him.
