DCC plans rally against government

KOCHI: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy will inaugurate a mass rally being organised by the District Congress Committee (DCC) in protest against the corruption and anti-people policies of Left Democratic Front government.

Preparations were on for the rally, said V.J. Poulose, DCC president, here on Saturday. The rally will be accorded receptions at 125 points during the week-long programme.

Mr. Chandy will inaugurate the rally at Cherai on November 18 at 5 p.m. Leaders like K.V. Thomas, V.D. Satheesan, and K. Babu, MLAs, P.P. Thankachan, Thalekunnil Basheer, Benny Behnan, M.I. Shanavas and Ajay Tharayil will address the meeting.

The rally will begin with P.P. Thankachan offering floral tributes in commemoration of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on November 19 at Elakunnappuzha at 9 a.m. The former Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will inaugurate a public meeting to be held at Paravoor at 6 p.m.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the valedictory session at Palluruthy Veli on November 25 at 6 p.m.
