Islamabad: At least 45 persons have been killed in spiralling sectarian clashes involving Shias and Sunnis in Pakistan’s restive tribal area bordering Afghanistan. Authorities clamped curfew in Parachinar, the main town of Kurrum Agency, on Friday following clashes between the two sects after a seven-month ceasefire. The clashes continued on Saturday despite the curfew and patrolling by army, PTV reported. Violence erupted on Friday after some unidentified persons suddenly opened fire, killing and injuring several people. — PTI
