Medical student falls to death

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A medico M. Vikas Goud, 20, died after accidentally slipping from the second floor of a rented building he was living in at Bandlaguda of Rajendranagar, the police said on Saturday. He was a second-year student of Shadan Medical College in Narsingi.

Goud was living in the rented portion of a three-floor building at Kalimandir colony in Bandlaguda, along with three of his classmates -- Naresh, Raju and Srikanth. While Srikanth went out on some work, the three roommates stayed back in the house.

“We studied till 9.30 p.m. While we went to bed after some time, Goud was seen sitting in the chair,” the police quoted Naresh and Raju as saying. Srikanth returned to the house after a couple of hours. As Goud was not around, he inquired with his roommates about him.

On being told that he might have gone to a friend’s room, he too went to bed. The next morning, neighbours woke them up around 7 a.m. saying that a youngster was lying prostrate in a pool of blood in the building’s passageway. They ran down only to realise that it was Goud.

‘No foul play’

The Rajendranagar police, after examining the spot, said there was no scope of any foul play. They opined that Goud could have accidentally slipped. The suicide angle was also ruled out.

“Nevertheless, we registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code and are trying to reconstruct the sequence of events” the police said. Vikas Goud hails from Housing Board Colony of Siddipet town in Medak district.
