‘Hostels not part of hospitality sector’

Bangalore: The Karnataka Paying Guest and Hostel Owner’s Welfare Association has demanded that their business should not be treated as a part of the hospitality industry.

Association secretary N. Ashwathnarayan told presspersons here on Saturday said they were being charged and taxed by BESCOM, the BBMP and other authorities as commercial establishments. “We are not like the hotel industry, which is run on a fully commercial scale,” he said.
