GEO TV pondering alternatives

Atul Aneja

DUBAI: GEO TV, Pakistan’s premier Urdu news channel, which has to shut down its operations from Dubai, is looking for alternative broadcasting options.

Executive director Shahid Masood said local authorities informed the channel that beaming of its programmes would be stopped from midnight on Friday night (UAE time). The channel was already shut down in Pakistan after President Pervez Musharraf declared emergency recently. Dr. Masood hoped that broadcasting would resume soon. He said all options, including telecast from an alternative location, were under consideration.
