Falls to death

Thiruvananthapuram: A 55-year-old coconut tree climber died after he fell from a coconut tree near Kaithamukku on Saturday morning.

The police identified the deceased as Sasi. The incident took place around 8.30 a.m. He was immediately taken to General Hospital were he was declared dead. The body was handed to relatives after post-mortem examination.

The Vanchiyoor police registered a case against two persons in connection with the assault of an employee of a hotel on the Statue-General Hospital road on Saturday afternoon. The police said that the employee, Abdul Khader, was assaulted by two persons, including one Suni, who was earlier working in the hotel. The dismissal of Suni from the hotel led to the assault and attack, the police said.
