‘Gopashtami’ celebrated

BERHAMPUR: ‘Gopashtami’ when people worship bovine was celebrated by taking out rallies and special functions in the city on Sunday.

Main function was held at the 0-year-old ‘Sri Krishna Goushala’ on Aga Street in the city.

A rally of cows and school children was taken out. Subsequently, the cows at the goushala were worshipped by following traditional rituals. A large number of people fed the animals.

Secretary of the organisation, C. Janaradan Subudhi said they have been celebrating Gopashtami every year.

In the evening an exhibition and cultural meet was held on its premises.

The goushala now houses more than 300 cows and most of these cows were abandoned by their owners.
