I bought a Videocon colour television set on August 12 from the NEXT Retail Shop at 16-A Kamla Nagar in Delhi. Just after two months of purchase the TV developed a picture problem. I registered my first complaint on October 17, which was followed by several calls to the retail outlet as well as Videocon Customer Care. Finally a technician came on October 29 and took away a hardware part promising to replace it by October 31. However, he has not turned up till today! Meanwhile I have called several executives of the company including Manager Piyush Mehta and also Customer Care officials but have received only false promises in return. Similar is the case with the people at the NEXT Retail Shop. Right now all I have is two complaint numbers (400VA07J17727 and 400VA07J221275) but no results. I want the company to compensate me for the telephone expenses that I have had to bear and also for the inconvenience caused to me because of all the trouble. Ningshen W., B-263/264, Gandhi Vihar, New Delhi – 110 009. Hello, Vodafone…..I have a Vodafone connection which has been giving me a lot of trouble lately. A few days ago I sent a request for free messages and my balance was reduced by Rs.10 accordingly. However, since then I have not been able to send a single text message in spite of having a balance of more than Rs.5. When I spoke to one of Vodafone’s customer care executives, he registered my complaint and promised that the problem would be fixed within the next 48 hours. When nothing happened within the stipulated time, I called them again, only to be told that they would need another 48 hours to look into the matter. It is more than a week now but I am still unable to use this facility. Vodafone has let me down badly. I want the company to compensate me for my loss of money, time and energy. Ankur Raturi, Crazy Road, Kailash Gate, Muni ki Reti, Rishikesh,Uttarakhand – 249 137. That stenchI am one of the regular passengers from Maharani Bagh to Mayur Vihar via ISBT Sarai Kale Khan in the Capital. Whenever we pass Sarai Kale Khan, we are confronted with an unbearable pungent smell of burning human bodies because there exists a cremation ground at the ISBT. This has become a nuisance for every passer-by. The stench that emanates from the funeral ground makes the five-minute journey a harrowing experience. I request the civic authorities to convince and persuade the people associated with the funeral ground to shift it to some other appropriate place. Nakshab Khan, D-100, Abul Fazal Enclave, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi. Calling Idea…..On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra I received a message from Idea Cellular Ltd. which said, “Discounted/Free SMS will not be applicable on 21st October, Dussehra (also communicated through website, packaging and advertisement). Normal SMS charges applicable. Happy Dussehra!” Why can’t the service provider send a message as and when one subscribes to their network that the discounted/free SMS facility would not be provided on special occasions? Mohammed Afzal, D-2/4 SDV, Surajkund, Faridabad, Haryana – 121 009.
