New vigilance journal ‘Inspiration’ released Meeting also organised with vendors to obtain feedback SALEM: Vigilance Awareness Week was observed at the Salem Steel Plant (SSP) from Oct 12 to 16. The theme of this year was Efficiency and Transparency in Customer-Oriented Programmes. Mr.B.B. Singh, Executive Director, Salem Steel Plant, administered the vigilance pledge to the employees. R Sundaresan, DGM (Vigilance) read out the messages received from important dignitaries and senior officials. The new vigilance journal ‘Inspiration’ released by Chairman, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Mr. S.K. Roongta, was circulated. During the week, an interaction programme with Central Bureau of Investigation was organised. A presentation on CBI and Public Sector Units was made by the Chennai CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch, Deputy Superintendent of Police, V. Ashok Kumar and Inspector, K. Madhusudhanan. A vendors meet was also organised on Nov. 15 to have feedback from them. About 40 vendors from Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vellore, Coimbatore, Salem etc. participated in the programme.Mr. B.B. Singh in his inaugural address stressed the need for transparency in the procedures. The vendors appreciated the system followed by SSP and thanked the plant for arranging the meeting. An oratorical competition on ‘Corruption – A Social Evil’ was conducted in English and Tamil for the school students.
