Repatriation of teachers

The State Government should give proper guidelines to District Education Officers (DEOs) with regard to repatriation of teachers based on their nativity. At present, the repatriations are going on based on the study certificates up to class X. To classify whether a particular person is a local or a non-local, the officials are taking study certificates into consideration. In Guntur district, some of the teachers listed in the non-local category were born in Guntur, but studied in different districts due to transfer of their employed parents. Though they were given appointments based on their nativity, now they are being subjected to repatriation. There is a need to modify the present list of transfers in the district.

Md. Rasool Khan,

Sattenapalli, Guntur district.

Handling a calamity

November has been inflicting heavy losses to both men and crops in Nellore district for a long time and this year is no exception. The brave and selfless act of the youngsters who saved the lives of three passengers of a minibus that was about to submerge in Mamidi canal is to be admired and appreciated. But the death of four persons is tragic. I request the district administration to emulate K. Sujatha Rao, the then district Collector of Nellore who handled the nature’s fury of 1984 with great courage.

K. Nagaraja Rao,

Kavali, Nellore district.

Award ‘Amarajeevi’ posthumously

It is a well-established fact that the late Potti Sriramulu sacrificed his life for the formation of Andhra State. I urge the Centre to award ‘Bharath Ratna’ posthumously to the ‘Amarajeevi’. Though it is a late request, Governor N.D. Tiwari and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy should prevail upon the Centre to award ‘Bharath Ratna’ to the great soul.

G. Bapaiah Gupta,

Nidubrolu, Guntur district.

Solve this problem

I wish to draw the attention of the railway officials to a problem faced by commuters, particularly those who travel in reserved coaches during night times. It is known that the halt of express trains is less than five minutes in all stations, except major junctions. As the doors of most eserved coaches are not kept open during night, passengers are forced to run from one coach to the other. It is a fact that elderly people, women and the disabled prefer to travel on trains. I request the railway authorities to look into the issue.

I.Subhash Samuel,

Ulavapadu, Prakasam district.
