“Declare Karaikal a backward district”

KARAIKAL: A.M.H. Nazeem, DMK MLA and Leader of the Opposition in the Puducherry Assembly, has written to Chief Minister N. Rangasamy seeking to declare Karaikal a backward district and extend all assistance for the development of the region.

Mr. Nazeem drew the attention of Mr. Rangasamy for agreeing to the demand in principle and requested him to take steps in this regard.

People would get benefit under various schemes once Karaikal was declared a backward district, he said.
