‘Lebuntur’ named best film at campus fete

Budding talent: Students who made the film ‘Colour of Pencils’ which won the first prize in the ‘Teen Special’ category of a campus film festival held in Thrissur on Sunday.

Thrissur: ‘Lebuntur,’ a film made by students of the Government Victoria College, Palakkad, won the first prize at ‘Teen Reels’ festival organised by the St. Mary’s College here, on Sunday.

‘After Waves’ and ‘Ente Katha,’ directed by Sreemit of the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) and Ratheesh of Maharaja’s College, won the second and third prizes respectively. ‘Pathikan,’ directed by Gisho Antony of Thrissur P.G. Centre, won the jury’s special mention.

‘Colour of Pencils,’ produced by Porur Grama Panchayat of Malappuram district, directed by A.P. Jishma, A.P. Lishma and K.V. Sandra, topped the Teen Special category.

Sivaram Mani of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram, won the jury’s special mention in the Teen Special category.

In all, 22 films made by students of different educational institutions in the State competed for honours. Sixteen films were screened in the non-competition section.

Addressing the valedictory function, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy chairman K.R. Mohanan called for more film appreciation programmes on campuses across the State.

College Principal Sr. Jesme, Cherian Joseph, I. Shanmughadas and Fr. Benny Benedict also spoke.
