Party will conduct its State conference in February

Claims nuclear deal is harmful to the country


KURNOOL: The CPI(M) will conduct its 18th district conference in the first week of January next year.

A preparatory meeting was held here on Sunday, which was attended by MLA M. A. Gafoor, Floor leader in the Corporation E. Pulla Reddy, K. G. Govinda Reddy, Prabhakar Reddy and others were present.

Mr. Gafoor called upon the party cadre to help the party transform into a decisive force in the district. He said the CPI(M) was never after power. Had it been so, the party could have produced a Prime Minister and secured 20 berths in the cabinet. It supported the Congress only to keep the communalists at bay.

Policies

Mr. Gafoor said the party had never hesitated to oppose the anti-national polities of the UPA government.

The nuclear deal was one such pact harmful to the country in the long run.

People mobilised

The party would conduct its State conference in February leading to national meet at Coimbatore in March. Other speakers said the party mobilised 15 lakh people for its land struggle and secured 10 lakh acres for the poor in the State. According to intelligence source, the party emerged as a force in 50 constituencies in the State.

The party decided to continue its fight on lands, farm crisis, farmers’ deaths, irrigation projects and caste discrimination. K.B. Khanna, party sympathizer, P. Radhakrishna of Gopi Hotel and others spoke.
