World Heritage Week from November 19 to 25 Ministry has distributed a draft oath to schools
NEW DELHI: The Union Ministry of Culture has decided to involve school students in a campaign against vandalism at heritage sites. As a part of this initiative, students across the country will take an oath on November 19 every year. World Heritage Week is celebrated from November 19 to 25 every year to create awareness on the rich cultural heritage of the country among common people, students and children. According to a plan approved by Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni, schools will be requested to administer an oath to students to protect monuments. If possible, they could administer the oath at a monument in the vicinity to create awareness. Schools could organise at least one visit of students to a monument during the Week. The Superintending Archaeologists of all circles would be instructed to extend help to schools. The Ministry has distributed a draft oath to schools. It says that they would not scribble on, deface or encroach upon any monument; respect monuments and render all possible help to conserve and preserve the country’s heritage.
