Keeping fit: Robert Sherman interacting with the Reebok certified group of instructors in Bangalore on Sunday.

Bangalore: “Hip Hinge,” “Squat Thrust” and “Toe Tap drill” — you may not be familiar with these words if exercise is not your cup of tea but for a trainer or a fitness freak, this makes up for their regular routine.

So when international trainers were in the city to train fitness trainers from South India at the Reebok Resolution 2007 on Sunday, it was all about stretch and sweat. The Resolution is a yearly initiative of the company to empower certified trainers with new fitness techniques and upgrade their skills.

Change

“The fitness scene has changed tremendously from just building muscles to concentrating on strength. Also, a lot more people are now more conscious about their fitness which is a good thing. They have also have better access to information about how to keep fit,” said Robert Sherman, global master trainer for Reebok and owner of F.I.T. Inc (Focused Individualised Training).

Sherman, who is in India for the first time, said trainers in India who come for these workshops are serious about what they do, enthusiastic and willing to learn.

Abbie Appel, international fitness presenter and fitness television and video personality, was also here and together they executed a workout programme in Sports Yoga, sensational stretching, abdominals, deck, step and core training.

Radha Krishnaswamy, master trainer, said several women are coming forward these days to get certified as fitness trainers, because they find it a good source of income with flexible timings.
