Fire could be handiwork of vested interests: Narayana HYDERABAD: The CPI State council has demanded that the Government take steps to construct houses for the residents of Singareni Colony in Saidabad area in the city who lost their dwellings in a major fire that engulfed the locality recently. CPI State secretary K. Narayana said the fire appeared to be handiwork of vested interests and that the incident could have been averted had the Government constructed houses for all the 3,024 residents of the area. Dr. Narayana distributed 5 kg. rice to each of the affected families on behalf of the party on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he demanded that the Government take steps to identify those indulging in such acts and initiate stringent action against them. Deploring the delay in completion of construction works launched under various schemes, he said the Government should ensure that its promises to the poor do not remain on paper.
