School Notes

Date with birds

Standard IX students of Carmel Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Erode, recently visited Vellode Bird Sanctuary. A release from the School said that the students identified various types of birds. They also sighted painted storks and sand pipers. They studied the other flora and fauna as well. The students also paid a visit to Udayam, a home for the mentally challenged. The 43 students were divided into five groups to carry out various activities such as cleaning and cooking.

Children’s Day

Kalinga Nursery and Primary School, Indranagar, Erode, celebrated Children’s Day in a grand manner. Students performed cultural programmes. Roopa Achuthan, Correspondent, said that the sheer joy of participation made the children bold, confident and smart.

Classrooms inaugurated

The Government Higher Secondary School, Dasanaickanpatti in Salem, celebrated the Children’s Day in a grand manner. Participating in the celebrations, Veerapandi MLA A. Raja inaugurated four new classrooms constructed under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme in the school.

He also distributed prizes to the winners of elocution, essay writing and drawing competitions. Panamarathupatti MLA R. Rajendran, Chief Educational Officer (SSA) Umarani, Salem District Education Officer Kaliyappan and School Headmaster C. Ramachandran spoke. School parent-teacher association president C. Rajendran presided. Students performed cultural programmes.

Craft exhibition

The Kongunadu Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Velagoundampatti, Namakkal district, organised a craft exhibition.

The event was organised to motivate students to take interest in handicrafts. A number of handicrafts made of waste materials such as coconut shells were displayed in the exhibition. The school also conducted a handwriting workshop and a demonstration on Yoga. The kindergarten section of the school conducted Green Colour day and Orange Colour day.

The school in association with the Shakshpeare Institute of English also conducted the universal talent examination and English proficiency test.
