Rajiv Arogya Sri to be launched on Dec.5

Scheme to benefit 41 lakh people

Kakinada: The Rajiv Arogyasri scheme to be launched at Panduru in Kakinada rural mandal on December 5, will benefit 83 per cent of the total families (41 lakhs) in the district.

The insurance premium and the entire expenditure (up to Rs 1.5 lakh in a year) will be borne by the State Government, said the District Collector M. Subramanyam.

Speaking at an awareness camp for the people’s representatives of Kakinada, Rajahmundry and Peddapuram divisions, at Rangaraya Medical College here today, Subramanyam said the beneficiaries should possess white ration cards, Annapoorna or Antyodaya cards to avail of the scheme free of cost for the entire families. The scheme will cover ailments of the heart, kidneys, brain, tomours and burns. Surgeries will be performed to the needy.

The collector called upon the people’s representatives to strive to educate the people at the mandal level so that the desired results could be achieved. Arogyasri Health Care Trust chief executive officer A. Babu told the gathering that the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund was catering to the health care needs of at least 300 poor people every day.

To extend the facility to more people who are in need, Arogyasri has been launched.

Special counters will be opened in the referral hospitals to implement the scheme.

On the inaugural day of the scheme (Dec 5), screening camps will be conducted to list out the beneficiaries who require medical assistance under the scheme. Former director of the Department of Medical Education I.V. Rao, Arogyasri Trust joint chief executive officer Chandrasekhar,

District Immunistation Officer Phaneendra, District Medical and Health Officer D. Vijay Kumar and others were present.
