16 tonnes of maize seized

Kakinada: The Kakinada marine police seized 16 tonnes of maize being smuggled at Etimoga in the district today. Four persons – M. Mahalakshmi, P. Mangayamma, M.Hari and K.Gangadharam were arrested and two country made boats were seized. On a tip-off, the policemen led by sub-inspector Y.R.K. Srinivas conducted the raid and busted the racket. Maize, paddy and various other commodities meant for export through the Kakinada deep water port, are stolen and transported by such organised gangs.
