Varanasi: Unidentified assailants shot dead a petrol pump owner after looting over Rs. 3.50 lakh in cash from him near the Syndicate Bank at Hathuwa market here on Monday afternoon. Sambhu Nath Lahari, owner of Ahaya petrol pump here, was shot dead while going to deposit the cash in the bank, Superintendent of Police (City) Rajiv Malhotra said. Two assailants snatched the cash bag from Lahari when he was climbing up the stairs of the bank and shot two bullets at him, killing him on the spot.
