KOCHI: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac said here on Monday that the Kerala Lottery would be re-launched in December. He said the re-launch was part of the ongoing efforts to make the public aware of the illegal activities in the lottery scene. The commission for a ticket would be increased from December. More prizes would be given to people purchasing Kerala lottery. Dr. Isaac said the Finance Department would issue advertisements in the media highlighting the illegal route being adopted by some lottery operators in the State. He said the advantages of buying Kerala lottery would also be explained in detail through a campaign. The Minister said there was delay in release of prize money for Kerala lottery. A hologram seal would be printed on each lottery to speed up the process of prize allotment. The automation would help in providing the prizes across the counter itself. C-DIT has been entrusted with the task of publishing the lottery tickets with hologram seal, he said. Referring to the social audit programme implemented at Walayar, Dr. Isaac said similar audits would now be held at Manjeswaram and Amaravila. Check-post plaza
He said a check-post plaza would come up on 30 acres at Walayar on the occasion of its golden jubilee in February 2008. The new complex would have the latest facilities to ensure smooth and scientific entry of vehicles. Denying reports that the State Government had failed to utilise the Union Government’s assistance for road development, the Finance Minister said the State Government had already submitted projects costing Rs. 294.21 crore for development of 733.27-kilometre road. Steps had been taken to implement the project. He said the previous UDF regime was able to procure only Rs.199. 08 crore assistance from the Centre for road development. He said that the LDF Government had already given administrative sanction for road development projects, which had been pending during the UDF rule.
