Tea farmers demand reasonable price

CHENNAI: The Nilgiris District Small Tea Farmer’s Joint Action Committee has sought a thorough study of the problems faced by tea-growing farmers in getting a reasonable price.

In a statement, K. Vijayan, convener of the committee, said about 20 years ago, the small farmers were getting Rs. 5 to Rs.6 a kg for green leaf. — Special Correspondent
