HC adjourns plea by seer
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday adjourned further hearing on a criminal petition by Sri Madhusudhanapuri Swamiji of Omkar Ashrama Mahasamasthana.
The swamiji has petitioned the High Court against the appointment of a receiver for taking control of the affairs of the ashrama.
In his petition, the swamiji said he had earlier filed a petition challenging the appointment of the Bangalore South Tahsildar as Official Receiver. The petition was allowed. However, on November 5, 2007, the Assistant Commissioner (Bangalore South) appointed the Tahsildar as the receiver of the ashrama once again.
He said the ashrama was established by Shivapuri Mahaswamiji, who died on July 25, 2007.
He was then made the successor.
However, Swamiji Purushottamanandapuri of Bhageerethi Peeta had also laid claim to being the successor.
Following the dispute between them, the Government appointed a receiver and also asked him to vacate the ashrama. He challenged the proceedings against. Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh adjourned further hearing on the case to November 26.
