This Day That Age
The two-day World Conference of Religions, which concluded in New Delhi on November 18, called upon the religious-minded peoples of the world to give up “mutual dissension and exclusiveness” and strive to bring about a world order based on truth, love and non-violence. As a step to achieve this object, the conference decided to set up an institute to conduct research “into the potentialities of truth, love and non-violence, through an objective study of humanities and the great spiritual movements through the ages.” The conference declared in a resolution: “The cardinal urge of all religions is towards peace, harmony and well-being of all, including the lowliest and the lowest. Religions have therefore opposed or looked down upon wars and conflicts and have recommended forbearance and self-suffering.”
