Srinagar: In a major breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday arrested a self-styled district commander of the Hizb-ul Mujahideen in Anantnag district. Tariq Ahmad Lone alias Gowhar, one of the most wanted ultras in South Kashmir, was arrested from the house of one Nazir Ahmad Bhat from Nanil village of Anantnag, a police spokesman said. The raid on the house of Bhat was conducted on specific information, he said adding an AK assault rifle, four magazines, 100 rounds of ammunition and two Chinese grenades were recovered from the dreaded militant. Ahmad Lone was involved in a large number of militancy-related incidents including many civilian killings and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks, police the spokesman said. PTI
