St. Ann’s students showcase their fluency in Hindi

ACE SWIMMERS: Namratha Shetty giving away prizes at the inter-house swimming meet held at Bladwin Girls’ High School, Richmond Road.

BANGALORE: The Hindi Department of St. Ann’s High School, Rajajinagar, celebrated the Hindi Saptah recently. As part of the celebration, many competitions were organised for children. Explaining “muhavare aur kahavathe” for Class IX students, recitation of Hindi Dohavali for Class VIII students, quiz in Hindi for Class VII students, storytelling for Class VI students, singing of patriotic songs, “Hindi Sulekha” and “Shishugeetha” for pre-primary students were held to motivate children to learn the language better.

Head of the department Mamatha spoke on globalisation of Hindi, while Hindi teachers Sarala Meenakshi and Sudharaj spoke on the importance of learning the official language. Chairman of the institution T. Balakrishna inaugurated the celebrations.

Workshop

The East-West School, Basavanagudi, organised a unique outdoor workshop “playing with lines” under the guidance of veteran artist Chitra Nandan recently.

Swimming meet

The inter-house swimming meet of Baldwin Girls’ High School and Baldwin Opportunity School, Richmond Road, was held recently. The mermaids of the school enthusiastically participated in the competitions and swept the prizes. Namratha Shetty, an alumna, gave away prizes to the winners. Ms. Shetty said the school nurtured sports talent. Indira Williams, Principal, Baldwin Girls’ High School and Sajinie Gnanatheeban, Principal, Baldwin Opportunity School, were present.
