We have shifted to modern and energy-saving lamps to provide better illumination in the area at low cost. Besides installation of high mast lights in important places, we are also replacing tube lights with energy-saver lamps in a phased manner. Most of the newly-installed streetlights are operated through an automatic timer.

At least Rs.15 lakh is allotted every month for new streetlights and maintenance of the existing ones. Tenders are to be floated for installing streetlights in uncovered areas.
