The specific purpose SEZ will get converted into broad-based SEZ once the formalities of the acquisition of 2,000 acres for the general purpose multi-product zone are completed. The New Mangalore Port Trust and various central agencies will be involved in the SEZ. The major activity of the SEZ will now take off. All primary activities such as agriculture, transport, and services are expected to benefit from the SEZ as the value addition would be high in export activity, in terms of volume and equality. Services inside the SEZ would absorb the educated youth of the region and pave the way for all round growth, he added.
