THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The syndicate of the University of Kerala at its meeting on Monday resolved to request the State government to speed up the inquiry into the recent break-in at the Department of Botany at Kariavattom. It was decided that the elections to the college unions in B.Ed colleges would be conducted on December 14. Syndicate members P. Mohammed Kunhu, M.P. Rasal and Geetha Gopal would probe the alleged granting of more time for a student to complete her MHRM examinations. The Syndicate decided not to grant the request of the NSS to conduct college union elections under the parliamentary model. The Syndicate also asked its examination committee to study the conduct of examinations at the University’s gulf centre and submit a report. The meeting decided to grant doctorates to Sreeranjini Isaac, R. Bhanumathi (Bio-technology), N. Vidya (Chemistry), V. Shinju (Sociology), Premachand, Sherlin (Hindi), M. Palaniswamy (Tamil), K.K. John (Economics) and to Rohini Bai (Malayalam).
