Traders advised to be alert

Special correspondent

Of unscrupulous persons posing as government officials

Tiruchi: The Tamil Nadu Traders Federation has cautioned traders in the City against being duped by unscrupulous persons posing as government officials conducting checks at their establishments.

In a statement, the general secretary of the federation V. Govindarajulu said there have been reports that some persons posing as officials from the Labour Welfare Department were visiting commercial establishments claiming that they have come to check the weights and measures used in the shops.

Demanding bribes

They were also demanding bribes from traders. Traders should guard against such impostors and verify the identity of officials conducting checks.

Inform police

In case of doubts, traders should alert the police, the federation or the Labour Welfare Department, Mr. Govindarajulu said.
