Madurai airport fire station bags award

MADURAI: The Madurai airport fire station has bagged the best fire station award in the southern region. The award is instituted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The Regional Executive Director (Southern region), AAI, K. Ramalingam, handed over the trophy to the Madurai Airport Controller, M. Suresh, at a function held on the airport premises on Monday.

Best facility

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the airport was provided with the best possible facility to ensure safe traffic movement.

During an evaluation of the performance and fire fighting preparedness of the fire stations of airports in the southern region, the Madurai Airport Fire Station stood first by securing 88.3 per cent marks, he said.

Dr. Ramalingam also handed over the President’s Fire Service Medal for meritorious service to S.I.V. Chinna Thambi, Senior Superintendent (Fire Service), of Madurai airport.

The AAI General Manager (Information Technology), N.B. Mathur, and General Manager (Engineering), P.S.R.K. Sudhakar, and Assistant General Manager (Fire Service), M. Durairajan, felicitated the airport officials and staff and advised them to make all efforts to retain the trophy.

Senior Manager (Air Traffic Management), N.A.M. Shakir, and Manager (Terminal Building), A. Ramalinga Siva, spoke.
