Comfortable win for Arumugam CC

Coimbatore: Arumugam Cricket Club coasted to a comfortable 133-run win over Tirupur Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-CDCA first division league here on Sunday.

The scores: First division: Arumugam 228 in 50 overs (K. Rajesh 50, N. Senthil Kumar 47) bt Tirupur 95 in 30 overs.

Second division: Coimbatore Friends 207 in 44.1 overs (Karthikeyan 57, Arun Kumar 46, Prakash four for 49) lost to Senthil Srinivasan MC 211 for eight in 44.5 overs (J. Karthik 50 not out).

Dolphin 210 on 47.4 overs (Prasanna 86 not out, Senthil Prabhu four for 32) bt Kaleeswara 186 in 46.5 overs (Rajesh 57).

M.J. Vincent dominates

D. D’Silva and M. Navaneetha Krishnan emerged the best performers as M.J. Vincent wrested the Haji Ebrahim Memorial Rolling Trophy for boys in the District-level karate championship for schools recently.

C. Mohan (98) and J. Samuel Jayakumar (five for 18) played a crucial role in Fern Hill Youngstars Sports Club’s 309-run win over HPF Staff Club in the HPF Staff Club Rolling Trophy cricket tournament at Udhagamandalam on Sunday.

The scores: Sterling Biotech 170 (K.S. Ravi Chakravarthy 65) lost to Yankees 174 for five in 35.3 overs (D. Pradeep 45).

Fern Hill YSC 348 (C. Mohan 98, A. Desai 68, J. Padmanabhan 56, T.R. Balasatish Kumar five for 70) bt HPF Staff Club 39 (J. Samuel Jayakumar five for 18).

Perumal scalps five

At Namakkal, T. Perumal claimed five for 13 in Gurusai Cricket Club’s six-wicket win over NKCC (Namakkal) in the Canara Bank-DCAN ‘A’ first division cricket league on Sunday.

The scores: First division: NKCC (Namakkal) 40 in 17.4 overs (T. Perumal five for 13, J. Raja four for 8) lost to Gurusai CC (Gurusamypalayam) 41 for four in 13.4 overs.

Leela Memorial CC (Namakkal) 135 in 34.3 overs (K. Gnana Soundran four for 18) lost to ICRC (Sankari West) 136 for seven in 32.3 overs.

Second division: RFCC (Mohanur) 180 in 33.4 overs (V. Subash 45) lost to Masters CC (Tiruchegodu) 184 for eight in 34.1 overs.

At Salem, Vampire Cricket Club scored a ten-wicket win over AVR XI Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-SDCA first division league at the SSP grounds recently.
