Officials suspended for misuse of funds

HASSAN: Zilla panchayat chief executive officer F.R. Jamaadar has said that gram panchayat secretaries H.R. Komaraiah of Doddakadanuru in Holenarsipur taluk and Huvanna of Yesalur Gram Panchayat in Sakleshpur taluk have been placed under suspension from November 19.

They have been charged with misappropriation of Rs. 10.50 lakh and Rs. 1.89 lakh respectively.

Mr. Jamaadar, in a press release, said that Mr. Komaraiah, while working as gram panchayat secretary in Devaladakere and Kurubhatturu in Sakleshpur taluk from 2004 to 2006, misused Rs. 57,000 by way of tax collected from the people between 2003 and 2004.

He reportedly misappropriated Rs. 10.50 lakh under the Swarna Gram Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) and did not furnish records upon transfer. He also did not subject these accounts to audit. He has also been charged with not replying to notices issued by senior officials. Mr. Huvanna, while working as secretary in the Halasulige Gram Panchayat in Sakleshpur, allegedly misappropriated Rs. 53,000 by way of tax collected from people and Rs. 1.36 lakh under the SGRY scheme.

On recommendation by the executive officer of the Sakleshpur Taluk Panchayat, he was also placed under suspension, Mr. Jamaadar said.
